Harmonica Scales in Words
Here is the definitive list of all the main scales that can be played in each of the first five positions. Bare numbers represent blowing into the hole of the same number, bracketed numbers represent drawing (sucking) on a hole of the same number.
The scale on this page is what I like to call the 'MASTER SCALE'. It is this scale from which the 'MODAL' scales are extracted, i.e. the notes for the scales, that have the same name as the position (e.g. 'IONIAN', 'MIXOLYDIAN', etc), can all be found in the Master Scale. They just start and finish on different letters.
